"Specialty Coffee CAN (SCC)" - "Freshest canned coffee ever"

CAN-PANY is pleased to announce the launch of a new canned coffee category: Specialty Coffee Can (SCC). This product is the first of its kind in Japan*, and is made with pasteurized coffee and refrigerated storage to ensure freshness and an unprecedented taste.

(*As of September 2025, based on our research, for canned coffee made with specialty coffee beans and requiring refrigeration and pasteurization.)

We will be exhibiting and demonstrating for the first time at the upcoming SCAJ (an event hosted by the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan).



Features of the new Specialty Coffee CAN (SCC)

  • This coffee is "like fresh food" and is based on a cold chain, setting it apart from conventional "room temperature, long-term storage" canned coffee.
  • An extraction process that precisely controls temperature and time, optimizing the profile of each bean and roaster.
  • Low-temperature sterilization process ensures an unprecedented fresh taste.
  • This is a unique initiative in which the roasting and extraction recipes designed by a micro roaster are faithfully reproduced in small batches and sealed in cans.
  • A platform that expands Japan's specialty coffee culture and takes it to the next stage.

Presentation and exhibition venue: SCAJ

This project will be announced at SCAJ2025 , Japan's largest specialty coffee event. At the venue, a demonstration will be held where visitors can experience the fresh taste of the "Specialty Coffee Can."

At the same time, new products will be announced that combine CAN-PANY's unique beverage manufacturing and filling technology with coffee culture, including a non-alcoholic beverage that utilizes the chaff (thin skin) that is created when coffee beans are roasted.

Future developments and vision

Specialty Coffee CAN (SCC) will continue to release new products as a series in collaboration with many micro roasters.

Just like craft beer, we aim to create a diverse canned coffee culture that is unique to each region and roaster, and to spread the Japanese specialty coffee experience that brings together consumers, fans, and roasters.


First roaster: Coffee Wrights

Our first partner is Coffee Wrights, run by the WAT Group. Coffee Wrights is not just a collaborator; they are also deeply involved in development and packaging design, leading the project together. They are a reliable partner in helping us fully express the individuality and quality of specialty coffee.


Future development plans

  • Characteristics: Made with coffee from Amferara Farm in Guji, Oromia, Ethiopia. This natural-process coffee has a vibrant, bright flavor, with fruity notes of strawberry and orange, layered with nuances of granola and licorice.

Coffee bean chaff, tree branches and berries

  • Price: 680 yen (tax included)
  • Sales period: October 2025 (pre-sale at SCAJ venue)
  • Capacity: 350ml
  • Ingredients: Apple juice (made in Japan), beet sugar, coffee chaff, yuzu juice, lemon juice, Kuromoji/carbon dioxide
  • Characteristics: A carbonated drink that combines fruit and Kuromoji, making use of the chaff that forms when roasting coffee beans. Enjoy the unique taste of the lingering aroma of fragrant coffee combined with the refreshing taste of fruit.

About CAN-PANY

CAN-PANY is an urban bottling plant that opened in Kiyosumi Shirakawa in 2023. It was established and is operated by the mitosaya herb garden distillery. It is capable of handling small-lot prototyping and experimental projects, and is unique in that it can handle everything from recipe development to filling and shipping.

The brand's philosophy is to "build partnerships to create new beverage experiences through can filling," and the company is actively developing projects aimed at creating new value in beverages.
