"CAN-PANY" has been selected as one of the "Good Design Best 100" in the 2025 Good Design Award (sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion).
CAN-PANY is an urban bottling facility based on the concept of "a beverage factory open to the city," and is focused on "small batches," "non-alcoholic beverages," and "collaborations." It handles everything from recipe development to ingredient processing, manufacturing, filling, shipping, and sales.
The previously closed-off beverage manufacturing site has been made visible through a transparent and hygienic factory space, allowing visitors to experience the "making" process.
This project, launched by mitosaya Co., Ltd., introduced a production line optimized for urban spaces with technical and equipment cooperation from Toyo Seikan Co., Ltd.
The transparent polycarbonate structure and flexible traffic flow design by Hideyuki Nakayama Architects combine functionality and design. Additionally, a "DRINK BAR" designed by Nomoto Design (Teppei Nomoto) has been installed, integrating production, sales, and dining experiences.
The project was highly praised for presenting a new social model that goes beyond the confines of a factory and brings together people, towns, and industries, leading to this award.
CAN-PANY will use this award as an opportunity to further promote the idea of a "small factory where urban creativity intersects," where anyone can be involved in beverage production, by leveraging the power of design.

Comments from the Good Design Award judges
As a "beverage factory open to the city," this project renews the image of a closed manufacturing site, increasing transparency and trust, and presenting a new model for the city that creates community through "making." The flow of traffic integrating manufacturing, filling, and sales allows visitors to directly experience the background of the products, and the transparent polycarbonate design blurs the boundaries, combining design and function, and is also outstanding in its strong connection to the facility's structure and the brand's worldview. It has been highly praised as a good example of a co-creative industrial space that goes beyond the boundaries of a traditional factory, and is a wonderful design initiative that raises great expectations for future developments.
